mstdn.jpのサーバは、たぶんドイツのHetzner Online GmbHにある。mastodon.socialと一緒。
前管理者のDSNOの考え方からすると、Dedicatedのコアとメモリの多いサーバをドンと借りて、そこでメモリの許す限りプロセスを走らせてるんじゃないかな。
ぬるかるさんちも、その後のさくらインターネットも、そういう高火力の強いサーバでドカンと動かすアプローチだったと思う。

ちなみに、mastodon.socialの構成については、3ヶ月ぐらい前にEugenさんからこんな回答があった。
